Weddings
Mazel tov! You already finished the hardest part, finding your match! Now trust us to help you make it official (and beautiful).
We’ve learned there’s a few good questions to get us started. Sorry for the unromantic steps, but we promise it’ll help in the long run:
Step 1: Do you have a date / location committed for your wedding?
Sorry, but we don’t officiate weddings during shabbat or holidays. If you want to understand more about why or prefer someone to walk you through our days for celebrating weddings, we’re more than happy to walk you through it, click here.
We sure wish we could but it’s not possible for our rabbis to travel more than 1.5 hours each way for weddings. If you have a destination wedding, mazel tov! We can recommend rabbis for other places too.
If you do not already have a date, or you know the date works with the jewish calendar, and your location is close-ish to SF, go to step 2 :)
Step 2: Come to The Kitchen for shabbat!
One great way to see if you want to be part of the Kitchen and have us officiate your wedding is to come to shabbat. If you like what you find, introduce yourselves and we’ll get going. When’s the next shabbat? Click here for our calendar.
If you’ve been a part of our shabbat and liked it, go to step 3!
Step 3: Want a jewish wedding?
We do the same jewish weddings for everyone and we think they’re pretty extraordinary. If one of you lovebirds is jewish and you want an incredible jewish wedding, we’ve got you.* (If you want more of a creative, DIY wedding vibe, we recommend rabbis who can help here.)
If you want a Kitchen jewish wedding, go to step 4!
Step 4: Let’s get started!
We generally meet 4 times with our couples, to hear your story, how you met, and to connect on what’s important (hint: it’s not the napkin color). We’ll explain all the sweet and moving parts of the day (rings, ketubot / wedding contracts, huppot / wedding canopies…) and get to know who’s who. We also ask that our couples become a regular part of our shabbat, which is, incidentally, the very best wedding prep we know.
If you’ve been through all the steps, please arrange a meeting with one of our rabbis here. We can’t wait to get started!
