Kitchen Social Club (KSC)

Kitchen Social Club exists to connect you to other young(ish) adults* in our community. If you’re feeling iffy about attending Shabbat services by yourself, or just want to meet other young and definitely social adults, then KSC is for you. Reach out to Kayla, our Youth & Young Adult Program Director, to find out what event we’ll be at next, or if you’ve got ideas and want to host one yourself.

*If you want to get into specifics, KSC is for people in their 20s & 30s.

One City

One City connects human beings who live with abundance to human beings who live with scarcity. We’ve partnered with the GLIDE Walk-In-Center, which works with hundreds of bright, righteous people each week who are wrestling with poverty, addiction and/or mental health challenges. Many of these people are trying to meet their basic needs—shelter, furniture, clothing. One City will serve as a hub to connect Kitchen-ites to GLIDE clients.

Team Hesed

We are a group of Kitchen-ites who come together to support those in our community who are sick, in need of healing, welcoming a new baby, and other acts of loving kindness.

What is Team Hesed? Kitchen-ites who step up and take care of each other through periods of celebration, loss, and hardship.

What Can I Expect? We’ll show up by starting a meal train, providing a ride for someone in the community, and spiritual support.

If I need Hesed, how do I get in touch? Write us at help@thekitchensf.org and a rabbi and/or someone from Team Hesed will be in touch.

What if I’m ready to provide Hesed to our community?
Write our Executive Director, Spencer Weiss at spencer@thekitchensf.org.

The Shared Society Project

Our newest group, led by Kitchen-ites, is focused on learning and supporting the people in Israel/Palestine who are committed to building a shared society – creating spaces where Jews and Palestinians can come together and get to know each other as human beings. We refer to these as “shared society” endeavors. The Shared Society Project seeks to platform the Israelis and Palestinians on the ground doing the work to support and learn from their leadership and build partnerships, connections, and coalitions.

Challah Team at GLIDE

A rotating group of Kitchen volunteers bake challot and other goodies for GLIDE staff to help feed the people who feed the people. We’re a small, closed team but we occasionally have room for a new Kitchen-ite. If you are interested in joining the baking team, email Rabbi Michael Lezak to learn more.
