Freedom School 2/24 Class Recaps

K-7 and Parents: This week, we did our annual Move-In Box project. This is a collaboration with One City, The Kitchen’s partnership with Glide’s Walk-In-Center. For the 3rd year in a row, Freedom School families donated crates full of basic, household necessities - like plates, silverware, towels, soaps, instant ramen - to be sorted into 50 boxes of materials. These boxes will be delivered to newly housed San Franciscans across the city. We also learned various Jewish perspectives of what makes a house a home, and used those new understandings to create cards that go into the boxes. This project is a huge undertaking, and much gratitude goes to Taly Jolish, as well as a crew of parents and 7th graders for making it happen!

Electives: Our Fall electives had their last week! Students did their final round of storytelling games in Jewish Drama and Storytelling, made gratitude boxes in T’fill-Art, created a compilation of their favorite punchlines in Jewish Jokes, and published their zine The Jew Yorker in Freedom Zine. It was a great semester of electives!
