Baby Namings
There’s nothing sweeter than welcoming a new baby at The Kitchen.
New baby? Mazel tov! We offer a few beautiful ways to bless your baby and announce their brand new name to the world. With each, you’ll get plenty of 1:1 time with one of our rabbis to talk you through everything:
During a Shabbat AM service. Hello, gorgeous! We’ll call you forward and you’ll read a blessing you’ve written to your baby. Then, we’ll formally announce the name, according to tradition, in front of the torah and community, while you lift your baby up high, for everyone to see. You are more than welcome to invite as many people as you want, both for services and for kiddush lunch. (And, *wink wink* if you want to donate to help cover said lunch, or add some flowers or treats, we’d be the last to discourage you.)
At your home. If you prefer to design a private ceremony, we’d love to help. Schedule permitting, one of our rabbis can come to your home and lead a ceremony where your baby can be blessed and welcomed to your heart’s content, with all your nearest and dearest.
Brit? We love Moshe Trager and Dr. Deborah Weiss, and think they’re the best in town. If you have questions about the meaning of a brit or just want to talk about it, our rabbis would love to connect. No question is off limits. Need a place to hold the brit? We can help. (And after, you’re also welcome to bless your baby in front of the community, see #1.)
